Prompt 2: Writing {via Reverb 10}
"What do you do each day that doesn’t contribute to your writing — and can you eliminate it?" (Author: Leo Babauta)
I have to change this question a little bit because even though I enjoy writing I don't consider it my primary art form. Actually, I'm not certain what art form I enjoy the most, so I'm going to generalize this question a bit more by asking, "What do you do each day that doesn't contribute to your creativity - and can you eliminate it?" My answer to this question would be: busy work. There are a million little moments each day when I do the same things over and over---like the dishes, picking up toys, putting away clothes, wiping things down, fluffing the pillows... and all of those minutes add up to a significant amount of time. Even when I don't feel like doing them, and I know they can wait until later, I do them anyway because I feel uncomfortable with too much unstructured free time. But more important is the fact that I'm not sure what creative outlets are best for me. I love photography, painting, writing, making things with paper, refurbishing something old...but I do most of those things on the fly, which makes them stressers, not stress-relievers. I'm not really sure what to say from here, except I know I need to eliminate some of those tedious tasks from my day and maybe just embrace not doing anything with those extra minutes in the day. Maybe I just sit down, and that's all. Forget the writing and creating. Just sitting would be a good place to start. How's that for getting off point?

Side Note: Answering these Reverb Prompts is proving more complicated than I first imagined---or maybe it's me who's complicated---because I don't feel like I'm answering the prompts very congruently (and I'm only on the second prompt!) So the above quote is a reminder to myself that I don't need to do everything perfectly, or have it all figured out. I'm just going to let these prompts lead where they will...
